EAC's image mode that generates a single wav and a cue sheet looks promising - perhaps there's some software out there that could mount it and present a virtual drive, something like Daemon Tools perhaps? Any ideas?Įdit: Tried ImgDrive and found it did what I wanted, i.e. I am also somewhat distrustful of ripping to separate audio files because I have run into issues with gapless playback in the past. My ideal solution would give me an image that I can mount as if it were a disc, and use with any software that can directly work with an audio CD. 
Well, I just tried doing just that, ripping a CD to both flac and to a single disc wav with a cue sheet. For instance, I frequently see people saying to use Exact Audio Copy to rip to flac + metadata.
That means that anywhere I could use an audio CD, the ripped disc image should work too. I would like to be able to rip an audio CD to an image file that would be mountable and behave like a real audio CD. Who knows how long I'll be able to buy working drives for these plastic discs. I'm looking at having to rip my CD collection again and I'd like it to be the last time if possible. First of all, sorry to ask this again - I read a few threads on this but didn't like any of the answers.
